Being asked to speak at a Sharing Best Practice event has been one of the joys of my career. Not only do I get to meet and learn from some of the nation’s most highly regarded presenters, but I also get to listen to teachers, schools, and systems as they reveal their pathways towards better teaching and learning.  

Making change can come at a very high cost in terms of energy, emotion, and financial outlay. Sharing Best Practice makes the decision to reach for the highest quality outcomes with a judicious use of energy, an extremely positive emotional experience, and all at the lowest cost possible. It is my great honour to be involved both as a speaker and a listener. 

SBP is one of my favourite professional learning platforms. I love the low-budget, no frills way that these conferences bring teachers, allied health professionals, and researchers together for two-way learning, and as the name suggests, sharing of all things “best practice”. I’m as protective of my Saturdays as much as the next person, but SBP conferences are a worthy cause for a Saturday-sacrifice and I always come away energised and optimistic about the future of education.
